Today I am looking at the unique 4K Olympus TG-Tracker action camera. The Olympus TG-Tracker has some unique and unusual features, so let's take a closer look. Olympus, with the TG-tracker, has chosen to go with a tubular design for its camera body, unlike the traditional design of something like a GoPro. At first glance, it looks very strong and resistant, with its thick plastic caps and screw heads visible on both sides. In fact, they even have the word "Hard" inscribed on the painted metal part of the left side. And speaking of painted, the Olympus TG-Tracker is available in two colors: green and black. The unit that I am testing today is obviously green. The Olympus TG-Tracker is completely waterproof to a depth of 30 meters for up to an hour and does not need a waterproof housing to make it waterproof. However, you should change the standard lens protector with the underwater lens protector provided, before using it in water. There are also two underwater video modes, Underwater Wide and Underwater Flipped Wide, that fit the field of vision of the underwater lens protector. The Olympus TG-Tracker is very easy to use. When the button is activated, on the left side, the camera is turned on and the 1.5 "viewer on the right side is turned on.The flap viewer is the main interface for this camera and can be opened to compose the shot and then closed when the tracker is mounted and ready to go in. There is an easy-to-access recording button on top with some buttons to navigate through menus and camera options, and talking about menus and options; menus actually Having that viewer really helps, the tg-tracker also has stereo microphones in the front, and I'll show you how they work in a minute. Micro usb charging port, micro HDMI video port and battery live behind this waterproof compartment on the back of the camera. The battery is now removable, so you can definitely com to ask for spare parts, and speaking of micro SD cards; If you want to record in 4K, what you probably want to do, be sure to get a card fast enough to handle the data rate. I will leave links to some cards that will work with this Olympus TG-Tracker, in the description below. In terms of mounting options, the Olympus Tg-Tracker can be mounted on anything with a standard ¼-20 tripod thread. You can also mount the Olympus TG-Tracker on any standard gopro mount with the provided handle. The handle is separated into a handle and a gopro mounting adapter, which is really useful. Now, if you do not want to disassemble the handle, you can always use the handle as a grip on the camera for handheld shots and even selfies. Now, a rather unusual feature that you may not find in most action cameras, is the built-in video light. And this is really useful for shooting at night or in low light conditions. It will turn on automatically, once you press record, if you enable it in the configuration menu or you can turn it on manually and use it as a flashlight. Another reasonably useful feature is the built-in GPS, the compass and the altimeter. This is useful if you want to record the location and information of your shots. And it's also very useful if you're hiking in the forest and you need a little sense of direction. And do not ask me how I know this. You can use the OI Track add-on application to track the GPS location of your footage. Therefore, you must buy the Olympus TG-Tracker and how it compares with the line of GoPro cameras. The Olympus TG-Tracker is a solid, easy-to-use camera that produces impressive images. And when it comes to GoPros, let's start with the GoPro Hero 4 Black. Compared to the black Hero 4, the TG tracker gains, thanks to its better image stabilization, the viewfinder and the waterproof features. However, when compared to the new Hero 5, the tracker is more evenly matched. So, what do I recommend? If you do not mind the clumsy application of the tracker and want to save some money, go with the Olympus TG-Tracker. However, if you want a much better smartphone control application and can pay the extra cost, choose the new Hero 5 Black.
