Walking tour of the GoPRO SM Mall of Asia Description Pasay City Manila Philippines. SM Mall of Asia is a shopping center in Bay City, Pasay, Philippines, near SM Central Business Park, Manila Bay and the southern end of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.

Owned and developed by SM Prime Holdings, the largest owner and developer of the chain of shopping centers in the Philippines, it has an area of 42 hectares, a gross total area of approximately 406,962 square meters and attracts an average daily traffic of approximately 200,000 people.

It is the tenth largest shopping center in the world in terms of gross leasable area. When it opened in 2006, it was the largest shopping mall in the Philippines until SM City North EDSA re-branded in 2008, and was relegated to third place for the expansion of SM Megamall in 2011.

Mall of Asia consists of four buildings interconnected by corridors; the main shopping center, the entertainment shopping center and the north and south parking buildings.

The main shopping center includes shops and restaurants and the food court. The entertainment mall is a two-story complex, most of which is outdoors, and faces Manila Bay. Both have concierge counters.

The 5,000 parking spaces of the mall are divided into two six-story parking buildings conveniently designated as north and south parking buildings. The south parking building houses the department store's SM store, while the mall's supermarket, the SM hypermarket, is located in the north parking lot.

Since its opening in 2006, visitors to the mall have been greeted by a large steel-framed globe at a roundabout at the southern end of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. In 2009, the world became Globamaze, an LED screen.

The mall includes branches of all standard anchor stores that are found in most SM Supermalls. The first branch of Taste Asia, one of the supermarket brands of SM Supermalls, is located just outside the mall's supermarket, the sprawling SM hypermarket.

One of the main attractions of the mall is the first IMAX theater in the country, along with a Director's Club Theater for intimate screenings (30 seats La-Z-Boy), a Premiere Cinema and the CenterStage Cinema that can be used for live musical concerts and theatrical performances. The IMAX Theater of San Miguel-Coca-Cola is one of the largest IMAX screens in the world in 3D, including 2D projections.

In addition to the special theaters of the mall, it also has six regular two-level theaters similar to those found in almost all SM Supermall.

The shopping center presents the first Olympic ice skating rink in the Philippines. With 61 by 30 meters, the track is described as the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. It can accommodate recreational and competitive figure skating, as well as ice hockey. Along with simple access and skating rentals, track operators also offer training programs for both figure skating and ice hockey.

Several ice skating competitions have been held on the ice skating rink of the shopping center, being the most prestigious Skate Asia 2007. It was also the first time that the Philippines hosted any international ice skating event.

The outdoor music room of the shopping center that faces the sea has also held several events, contests and concerts.
