The model Hero5 Black is little modified in comparison with the Hero4 camera since now its rectangular form is covered with adherent material and the corners are rounded upwards to enhance the beauty of the product.
On the back of Gopro Hero 4, there is a hero port for Battery BacPac. But the port is deleted in the latest version. Obviously, the reason is for the waterproof design.

Connection ports:
To maintain the internal parts of the camera without water, GoPro has reinforced the battery, microSD and the connection port caps to keep them sealed. It really requires a bit of effort to access the micro-HDMI port and charging, especially for those who have large fingers. And here are other updates, the USB port has been changed to type C in GoPro Hero 5.

3 microphones system:
In this update, we also have 3 microphones, one on top near the shutter, one on the side and another near the loading port.

Keep in mind that, compared to GoPro 4, GoPro 5 has a hardened rubber between the clips, which mounts the camera more firmly.

Touch screen:
A great update is the 2-inch LCD type touch screen with a beautiful user interface that makes it much easier to operate.

The only complaint I have is that sometimes it feels a bit slow to react, and touch detection is not as sensitive as smartphones.

Voice control:
There Hero5 Black has built-in voice control. This is a great feature when you are in an incredible moment or when you take a group photo without hands-free to control the progress. It supports a variety of phrases that start with GoPro.

Image and video quality
GoPro Hero5 black takes up to 12 megapixels and video resolution up to 4k. And there is a bust mode and a time lapse mode and a night time lapse mode. Like Hero4, not all functions are available in all modes. For example, when shooting at 4k, your options are only 30 and 24 frames per second and image stabilization is not supported. While recording 720p, you can upload up to 240 frames per second.

Image stabilization:
What makes GoPro hero5 stand out is that it now has image stabilization. You can trim 10% of the frame and soften some of those jarring clips, like what you might have when your camera is mounted on a bicycle or skateboard. But I have to say that only the gimbal can really eliminate the shake.
But keep in mind that stabilization is only available with a resolution of 2.7k or less. It is not there if you want to shoot a 4k.

There are 3 applications that you should consider using together with your Gopro.
The first one is Capture. You can remotely control your gopro as press record, manage media, change settings, etc. The application is intuitive and easy to use. They facilitate the pairing of the camera with a smartphone through Wi-Fi and review the images. But the pairing process is still a bit false.
2nd 2nd Quick is the editing application available on iOS and Android devices and helps users to add creative effects and transitions to video clips, as well as to easily synchronize audio files to generate impressive rhythms for recorded videos. The desktop version of Quick also contains all these features and can serve users with extended control functions, such as allowing users to overlay GPS data for extreme speed analysis, G-force and other data fields.

If you are looking for a more advanced editing application, Splice gives the user more control over the edits, as well as allowing access to the iTunes library to overlay the appropriate music, but is currently only available on iOS.

In general, we can say that Hero5 Black is one of the most powerful devices in the GoPro Hero series with enhanced capabilities. It is appreciated for its wide dynamic range, huge shooting options, impressive voice controls, water resistant body, advanced stabilization features. The official price on the official GoPro website or in the online store like Amazon is $ 399. So think about it.
I hope this video helps you make your purchasing decisions if you have not already done so. If you have a GoPro, I hope that my review and testing will help you better understand how to get the best out of it. Thanks for watching and remember to subscribe!
