* Update * I have links to new applications and everything below. I have been happily using this cardan for every session I do now.

Some of you have been asking how I am getting a video recording so fluid suddenly. The answer is, I'm using a cardan.

This battery powered device uses a computer chip and a gyroscope to stay level with the horizon. It holds your GoPro and gives you a really stable video, even if you're running or jumping with it.

The super sweet shots we got in the suburban video were filmed in Domingo's camera, which has a cardan incorporated. In today's video, we're going to take a look at my new gimbal, which Zhiyun Tech sent me to use and review it. I guess they did not send me this for the kindness of their hearts, they want a review of that. So here goes, starting with the disadvantages.

1. Advertise having an application, but then the instructions tell you to download it from your website. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would require having an iPhone with a jailbreak or Android rooted. Most of us are used to getting applications from the app store or Google Play Store, and there is no application found in any of them. Supposedly, all the functions offered by the application can be achieved in other ways, so I suppose I can live without it.
2. In addition, the batteries are charged in an external device, so you must mess with this cover and pop each one to recharge them. It would be nicer to have a battery pack of some kind, instead of looking for these on mountain bike trails.
3. Finally, the only way to connect your go pro to this gimbal is without the protective casing. Normally, this would not be a big problem, but it is called "rider", which I suppose implies that you can ride it on a helmet or a bicycle. In fact, it comes with this adapter that fits between parentheses. Considering the things I do, it might be a better idea to use it on the handheld.

So, with those points out of the way, let's talk about what I like about Rider M.

1. This damn thing works very well. Here I am running after Emily in the Oleta River State Park. She looks like a ruffian. I've noticed that some other cardans tend to frown if you grab them or twist them the wrong way, but this thing seems to stay level no matter what you do to it.
2. The unit itself is also very well constructed. It is completely made of metal and has a high quality feel.
3. It's simple. Just turn it on and then use this other button to change the modes. I have not tried to calibrate it or use any of the more advanced functions, but honestly I have not needed it.
4. Also, unlike some other gimbals, the engine is completely silent, so I can get excellent audio without clicking or humming in the video. This is huge since I like to pick up the sounds of the bicycle and nature whenever possible.
5. Batteries also last a long time, and come with extras just in case. So, although they are a bit annoying to change, I do not need to change them very often, in fact they last longer than my GoPro.
6. I also like the fact that it comes with a really well-made telescopic handle. I usually use my phone and use the GoPro application to see what is going on, although I suppose it is also assumed that your application will do that.

So taking everything into consideration, I really love Rider M, and I promise that I do not just say it because they sent it to me for free. I had been looking for a gimbal, and the M pilot is everything I expected. It is too early to say how to deal with daily use, but it is well built and has not given me any problems yet. So, if you are looking for a well-built, quiet and reliable gimbal, then you may want to see what Zhiyun Tech has to offer. It was great that they sent me this, and after a few shots it has become an essential piece of camera equipment for me.
